Cornelius

You probably know Cornelius – he’s the guy who wrote Three Persian Kings which we’ve sung at Christmas. Here’s So Weich Und Warm.

Gabrieli

Here’s Lieto Godea. I realised at the last minute that the original is in C and the Green Book version is transposed down to Ab. I think the notes here are mostly what everyone else will have. It’s a good job we’re all singing on mute.

The backing tracks may be helpfuller in some sort of combination, so here are First Choir / Second Choir / Tutti for each voice.

Here’s a jolly wedding piece by Haydn – Die Harmonie in der Ehe:

It’s in the Big Green Book (for those who have it) and the score is here for those who don’t:

Monteverdi

We’re going to look at Il Lamento d’Arianna, which is a set of four Italian madrigals. The music is in the Green Book (if you have it), or here. Print pages 5-29 only (or in smaller chunks if you want to print it week by week).

[HISTORICAL NOTE: Monteverdi wrote his second opera L’Arianna in 1607. All the music is lost apart from one extended aria, which Monteverdi published separately in this form]

Here’s the backing tracks for #1:
